How RÎAD is linked to Moroccan culture

RÎAD was founded to compose perfumes with real character and bring a more exclusive scent experience to Europe. The inspiration for that character comes from Morocco — its houses, its landscapes and its way of wearing scent.

The courtyard in the name

The brand takes its name from the riad, the courtyard house of the Moroccan medina. It stands for the balance we look for in every composition: warmth and calm, richness and restraint.

Landscapes in the bottle

Several of our perfumes begin in a specific Moroccan place. Ouda is inspired by the forests in the mountains around Tangier, overlooking Gibraltar and Spain. Wood and Majestic come from the same forests — one drier and woodier, one earthier and deeper.

The Moroccan way of wearing scent

In Morocco scent is layered and worn close: an oil on the skin, a perfume over it, incense in the home. That is why we make perfume oils alongside our perfumes, and why we encourage layering them.

Ritual, not only product

Our body and home range draws on the hammam: black soap, ghassoul and fragrant oils. At Riad Maison in Väla you can experience the ritual itself. And in our boutiques in Denmark and Sweden we bring something of Moroccan hospitality — time to smell, talk and choose without hurry.
